5 HOUR OFFER

5 HOUR OFFER

In the run up to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games, the government wants to make sport a part of every child’s day and to build a greater sporting and fitter, nation.

The Government's overarching aim is to ensure that all 5-16 year olds have access to two hours high quality PE and three hours of sport beyond the curriculum and that 16-19 year olds have three hours of sport outside of the curriculum. Collectively this is referred to as the '5 Hour Sports Offer'.

This commitment is expressed through the new National PE and Sport Strategy for Young People (PESSYP) launched in January 2008. You can download the new Cumbria PE and Sport Strategic Framework 2008-2011 as well as the Executive Summary document here.
